Tim Schaffer knows our residents and shares our values.  He is a lifelong resident of Central Ohio, and his roots run deep throughout the 77th Ohio House district, having lived in Fairfield County for more than 40 years.

Tim is a tireless advocate for the families and communities he serves.  He holds government bureaucracies accountable and makes sure government works for our families and businesses.  Known as the “father of performance audits,” Tim Schaffer wrote the laws requiring performance audits of all state government agencies and state universities so taxpayers can be assured of getting the best value for their tax and tuition dollars.  When Buckeye Lake dam construction threatened Millersport and Buckeye Lake businesses, Tim Schaffer stepped in and successfully negotiated conflicts between residents and the state.  Tim Schaffer enacted legislation that defeated the Tax Department’s plan to apply sales tax to Lancaster natural gas utility customers, saving residents millions of dollars.

Tim Schaffer worked tirelessly at the Statehouse to fight government corruption, reduce taxes and protect our children from sexual predators.

As party chairman, Tim Schaffer stood up to leaders in his own party to remove a corrupt politician from power.  The as a state legislator, he wrote anti-corruption laws to clean up Ohio government, remove corrupt politicians when they mishandle taxpayer money, and strip them of their tax payer-paid pensions.  As our state representative, Tim Schaffer will continue leading ethics reforms with a zero-tolerance policy toward white collar criminals in government.

Tim Schaffer wrote the plan to provide Ohio’s service-disabled veterans with a property tax cut, helping the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.  And he helped pass legislation that guarantees souses of soldiers killed in action receive increased benefits and college scholarships.

Tim Schaffer has helped numerous employers and worked to bring economic development projects to Fairfield County, keeping and creating hundreds of jobs.  He defeated plans to expand sales taxes, led efforts to eliminate the estate tax, cut personal income taxes and exempt military active duty pay, military pensions and surviving spouse benefits from income taxes.

Tim Schaffer is leading the fight against predators that prey on our most vulnerable citizens, our children.  He has authored laws that require mandatory prison time for sexual predators.  And he has helped pass laws that require predators to register with local authorities.

After Tim graduated from Lancaster High School, he attended Ohio University-Lancaster before earning his BA in communications & political science from Mount Union College.  At Mount Union, he was a reporter for the student newspaper and radio station, and he was a starting fullback on Mount Union’s Ohio Athletic Conference championship soccer team.  Tim and his wife, Lori, live in Lancaster.
